The company

The Chianti region does not have clearly boundaries based on morfologiacal, geographical or climatic aspects.
The only unifying element of the region is the production of high quality wines since twelfth century.
The name, which comes from the Etruscan Clante-i, was mentioned for the first time in documents of the VIII century defining the territories of the ancient League of Chianti, the modern districts of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina.
In the nineteenth century the region spread towards the Val di Greve, Pesa and Arbia, which were also producers of high-level wines.
The "Consorzio for the defence of the wine typical of Chianti and its brand" was founded in 1924 with the "black rooster in a gold field" as its brand, has delimited the area of production.
